Star Trek Gala [Events]

2016 Mar 26
May 12 to open the world premiere taking place at the Aviation and Space Museum. Seems that they will have Star Trek-inspired food and cocktails - wonder what they would be? I bet there's a Trekkie or 2 here who might come up with some suggestions for good names for some!

What, you prefer them baked?

That sounds like an awesome event!

I'll skip the Klingon gagh but firewine or bloodwine might be interesting www.vinport.com

It's apparently a launch for the "star fleet academy experience". Not clear if the 25$ ticket gets access to any ST food (à la carte), 50$ (Complimentary Star Trek-themed cocktail and à la carte snacks)or if it's only the VIP ticket (250$! exclusive food and beverage in VIP lounge). If someone goes take photos:))))

Some hilarious comments on that Vinport link!

I just made some hummus and was thinking Mid East foods when I thought StarDates might be a good appy - star anise-infused dates.
Or maybe a Klingon specialty, deep fried, cinnamon and sugar Vulcan Ears and maybe some Killaloe Sunrise Vulcan Ears.
Of course, some Klingons might love to nibble on some Vulcan Ears sautéed with some of that Bloodwine sauce.

Mark my words ... By the end of the night the bartender will cut someone for demanding "tea, earl gray, hot" one too many times.

sounds like the $50 ticket get you 1 cocktails and a sneek peak on the experience exhibit. all other drinks and all foods seem to be a la carte

I asked the museum, only the VIP food/cocktail are Star Trek themed. The 50$ seemed like a good in between but they are sold out.

Serious eats offers a primer on ST food and drinks, including a recipe for romulan ale:

Update - they released a few more 50$ tickets:)

Hi LF, so what did you think of the gala? I can see from your pics that things were pretty colourful, and your pointy ears were a nice touch.

It was loads of fun! We were greated by someone dressed like Q, lots of people got in the spirit and dressed up for the occasion. Check was quick, they assigned brightly coloured noise detecting flashing bracelets. Klingons were availanle for fun photo ops. I didn't see what the VIP lounge but heard it was great. They had free cotton candy on a changing colour paper glow stick, ice cream pebbles. Creative drinks, blood wine, a reverse gin tonic using liquid nitrogen, a blue cocktail (not romulan... Secret ingredient included Orange tic tac and fanta) and Clocktower's Star Trek Beer ottawacitizen.com

William Shatner did a little presentation and interview. They inaugurated a Captain Kirk coin, photo ops with Odo and the real Q.
Music was good, they had a few acrobatic/circus acts, klingon martial arts then free time to explore the "starfleet academy" i.e. Travelling interactive Star Trek exhibit. Worth the visit for fans of the series:)
