Thanks, Ratty, I have cancelled the book that I had ordered. I have since learned that The Healthy Pressure Cooker Cookbook by Janet Zimmerman is the one to get. All 5 and 4 star reviews on Amazon. Com. My order is being shipped in two shipments so I am going to see if they can add that book to one of them. It gives instructions for stove top and instant pot usage for all recipes.

It’s actually an Instant Pot specific cookbook, and the recipes I’ve looked at so far seem exceedingly similar to those on the InstantPot.com website, and the recipe booklet provided with the machine. There doesn't seem to be an obvious connection between the author and Instant Pot.
The recipes on the website seem to have some submissions from the public, and the website correctly credits the originator and links back to their website/youtube video etc. The book on the other hand just seems to infer the recipes are all by the author.
In the book they swap the ingredient order around and change a few words so it isn’t an exact word for word match, but the similarities are too close for coincidence.
An example of a beef stew recipe :
InstantPot website, submitted & credited to “busyzgirl”
• 2 pounds beef stew meat
• 2 packets McCormick Stew Seasoning (or stew seasoning of your choice for 2 pounds meat)
• 4 cups water
Vegetables of your choice – I chose:
• 5 scrubbed medium-sized potatoes chopped (my family loves potatoes)
• 1 cup carrots chopped
• 1 onion chopped
• 4 stalks celery
• 1 cup raw green beans
Cookbook
2 pounds beef stew meat
2 packets Stew Seasoning (I use McCormick)
5 Scrubbed medium-sized potatoes
1 onion chopped
1 cup raw green beans
4 stalks celery
4 cups water
1 cup carrots chopped
It seems a bit of a coincidence that book author chose exactly the same “vegetables of choice” and quantities as the original, as well as a seasoning mix I’ve never heard of.
The instructions are just as similar, plus cooking & resting times, minute for minute.
That wasn't just a one-off. Every recipe I looked at invoked a sense of Déjŕ vu.
I wouldn’t be too bothered if the book had glossy colour photos of each dish and claimed some connection with the instant pot website and contributors.
As it stands I feel like I could have printed this “book” off for free at home. It wasn’t expensive, but it annoys me that someone is potentially collecting royalties off something that is so blatantly ripped off.
So what to do? Just write a scathing review on Amazon, then have a drink and forget about it? Or is there some way to report this kind of thing?
Cheers,
Ratty.
