Cut and paste from the Ottawa Citizen:
Noodle Showdown Noodles — from Italian pasta to Japanese ramen — are all the rage and you’ll be able to sip and slurp the best of them at Ottawa’s first Noodlefest, to be held in late February. The event is the brainchild of Roy Abou Rjeili, an Ottawa restaurateur who is staging a series of “underground” chef’s markets, modelled after Toronto’s wildly successful TUM (Toronto Underground Market, held at Evergreen Brick Works). Among the noodle makers at the upcoming Sip ’n’ Slurp event will be chef Jonathan Korecki who makes a mean ramen bowl at Side Door, Tarek Hassan of the Gongfu Bao food cart and cooks from Raon Kitchen food cart, Chow Down food truck and Wei’s Noodle House. Admission is $10 if bought online (privefoodthought.ca) or $15 at the door; vendor dishes will max out at $6. Plans for future Underground events include a taco fest May 3 and a slider and burger barbecue to be held in summer. When and where: Saturday, Feb. 22 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Ottawa Convention Centre, 55 Colonel By Dr. - See more at: www.ottawacitizenstyle.com
Hope this helps.

The noodlefest website said that tickets are limited, but there are over 1000 people rsvp'ed on Facebook. I know that anyone can rsvp on Facebook, but in my experience people don't tend to say yes to Facebook events unless they are definitely going. I'm going, but not gonna lie, I'm a little apprehensive about the number of people they're admitting (the lineups!).

Lots of noodles and people, in some cases it was hard to spot the difference. I sampled 5 dishes - honey pork stir-fry, pulled pork ravioli, duck ramen, sweet potato glass noodles and curry gnocchi- all of which were priced at the highest end of what was advertised which was 5$. They were all sufficiently tasty with the duck ramen from Side Door being the stand out. Overall a great, well attended event which will hopefully lead to more such events (with cheaper alcohol).

I like Don's review better than Ron's: foodieprints.com
I quite liked the event. I heard a lot of griping about it, but I went into it with some realistic expectations (prices closer to the high end of the range, small portions, long lineups) and lots of enthusiasm. It wasn't exactly cheap because the food was served in sample sizes, but I had the opportunity to try a lot of tasty noodles, which was kind of the point. They definitely needed more seating, better signage for the booths, and more organized lines, but it's their first event of this particular kind, so I'm sure they'll make improvements for Tacofest.

I was told the people from the restaurant Miso (bank and slater st) were there and had 2 noodle dishes- one that is already on the menu and one that they made just for this event.
Wanted to post sooner, but have been quite ill and away from my computer a lot.
The noodle event sounded neat, but seeing I could not eat more than plain rice and some hard candies I could not go ....
Tacofest sounds neat, hope I can make it out to that...
