Ottawa Citizen is running a poll to vote for Ottawa's best burger.
The contenders include:

Art is in Bakery
Baja Burger Shack
Brothers Beer Bistro
Burgers on Main
Chez Lucien
Dicks
Hintonburger
The Works
Quinns
Vera's

I'd heard that the Citizen was going to be adding an entirely new section of nothing but closeup shots of gigantic burgers.

Maybe I heard wrong.

If it turns out to be a judged by number of votes (thus popularity) , then The works , with it's multiple outlets, will win hands down.

Why don't they come clean and call these 'best of' competitions for what they are; "Popularity Contests".

So don't cry fellow foodies, when Art-Is-In or Hintonburger doesn't get the Ottawa Citizen title of Best Burger.

But didn't baja burger shack win last year? That's how I found it.

I want to see who everyone here is voting for...

I haven't tried half of the places listed, so it wouldn't be fair to a few of them. Hey, they left Five Guys off the list!

Yes, Baja Burger has the sign up on Carling/Richmond that they won Ottawa's best burger.

I like most of the burgers on the list, but Art is In is my absolute favorite, followed closely by baja burger. They are quite different from each other and either one could be my choice depending on the day.

Is it wrong to not want Art is in to win? I don't want to fight more hungry, burger loving hordes.

I'll give the Citizen credit for poking fun at its own contest: "(We wonder if a little old fashioned campaigning didn’t help the Hintonburger’s cause, as ‘vote for us’ signs were spotted by the cash at the Hintonburger. See photo attached to this story.)"

These popularity contests are only one measure of a restaurant's calibre (much like the ratings on this site) and should be taken with a very large grain of salt! :-)

Kevin from Art-Is-In was telling people about the vote as well as he delivered burgers to tables when I visited, but he knew they wouldn't win due to the Hintonburger / Works juggernauts.

Regardless of the exact order, that's a pretty good list.
