I'm heading to NYC for the first time. We're staying in Greenwich Village. Anyone got any recommendations? I've checked Chowhound already, but wouldn't mind your input.

Mario Batali's Babbo if its in your budget and you can get a res. Katz's Deli on the LES, Russ and Daughters for a smoked salmon bagel, Mesa Grill, Bar Americaine for steak....Virgil's for great BBQ...just off Time Square. Spice Market in the Meat Packing District...

really, there's tons of literature out there. even just the ny times or new york magazine online
will give you a wealth of information. you can also check out eater.com.

Funnily enough, I just got back from a weekend in NYC about an hour ago. We ate at Craft (one of Tom Colicchio's places) on Saturday night, it was exceptionally good.
