This recipe was made in a family cottage kitchen and transformed over the years into a family favorite. The base of the recipe is the Nasi Goreng Flakes. These cannot be replaced in the recipe, it is their unique blend of dried veggies and spices that make this dish a hit.Its a spicey-sweet chili stew made to be cooked slow and long and poured over a steaming bed of rice. It is also very easy to make.
Brulé's Nasi Goreng
Ingredients;
1 lb stewing beef cubed
1 lb stew pork cube
2 pkgs Nasi Goreng flakes
2 tsp Sambel Olek chili paste
3 Large Bottles Hienz Chili sauce
1/2 Onion diced
1 Celery stalk diced
1/2 can Pinneaple diced (or fresh, even better)
2 tbsp Almond slivers
Red wine
Directions;
Quick sear the meat in a Creusset or stewing pot after a light dredging. Remove meat and add the onions and celery into the same pot. Once the veggies are translucent add a splash of red wine to deglaze the bottom of the pot. Place the cooked meat back into the pot and add the Nasi Goreng flakes and stir until the aromatics REACT. The same goes for the Sambel Olek, add and stir. Now add the chili sauce to the pool and you might as well add the rest of the kids too...pinneapple and almonds. Cook low and slow atleast for a few hours. Serve on a bed of your favorite rice.
