Mongolian Hot pot and allergies? [Food/Vendor]

Is this place dangerous for someone with peanut allergies? I don't know if they have any sauces that have peanuts in them, or if other foods come in contact with them. I also don't really know how the restaurant works lol. I thought it was like Mongolian Village, but after quickly reading through comments on here, it seems like more of a fondue?

Would you take your kid there if he/she was allergic to peanuts?

Thanks :)

Does the allergy extend to other nuts and seeds (like sesame) or just peanuts? How severe is the allergy? I did some looking at recipes to see if it was a typical ingredient and it doesn't appear to be so. Then again it might also depend on what else is served there and is on the menu as this may not have it but everything else they serve does. I don't know. I would do a bit of scouting and see if they speak English well, where you want to go and talk to them. Regardless, if you end up trying it I'd have the Epi handy just in case.

missladi I ate at Mongolian Hotpot last Wednesday for the first time. It is in fact like a fondue and you can ask for one big pot of fondue broth for everyone at the table or you can ask for individual pots so each person gets there own. You have a choice between beef broth or vegetarian broth and, as far as I know, there are nothing but spices added to the broth. I identified garlic cloves and there are three berry-looking things in the broth - maybe juniper berries? and two others. As for the ingredients you go up to the buffet and choose what to put in the broth - meats, fish, and vegetables mostly - no nuts involved. There is a condiment bar with satay, sesame paste and other things but they are in separate dishes and each dish has its own spoon. I would be most worried about the condiments since I believe the satay sauce might be made with peanuts (can anyone confirm this?) and there is sesame paste if the child has other nut allergies. The staff is fluent in English and I'm sure they will be more than happy to answer your questions if you choose to call first. FEELMYSERPENTINE accurately photographed the buffet in his reviews so you can see what it looks like before you go.
