Catena Malbec 2007, Vintages 478727

I bought a couple of bottles last Friday and opened my first one last night. Both the Wine Spectator and Wine Advocate rated it at 91, which is amazing for any wine under $30, let alone under $20. This is a full flavoured Malbec that is great to drink now and will probably improve over the next few years.

There seems to be good stock in most LCBO stores in the area.

I don't recall if the sale's still on, but the 2006 Henry of Pelham Baco Noir Reserve is on sale until September 12th ($22 down from $25?). I figure it's to make way for the 2007 vintage.

I am a huge fan of the Baco Reserve. It's got just the right amount of fruit and funk to make it a wonderful accompaniment for BBQ meats.

So buy both! The Malbec for smooth, the Baco for chunky ;)
