Olive Cream/Paste [General]

You could try buying a big jar of olives at costco and putting it through a food processor (the idea comes to me given what I just posted at the same time you posted this). We used to buy the really expensive olives until our oldest son took a real liking to them and started popping them like candy (from about age 2, now 5). So we started buying the cheap ones at costco and go figure, but they are actually really good! We only buy the pitted green ones with pimento in the middle (unico), but they do have several different kinds, and they are all very cheap.
Worth a try in any case. Worse comes to worse you have a big jar of olives to polish off. There have been worse fates :-)

I picked up some 'Saclą' tapenade recently from...from that tiny deli in the Glebe...
Er, not Nicastro's. Somewhat newish. Little thing with refrig counter on one side (cheese, meats) and shelving on the other (asst'd biscuits, crackers, pickles and other jarred goodies); has take-away sandwiches? Somebody must know what I'm talking about...
Anyway, I'm fairly sure it was cheaper, and it's nice stuff. For some reason, I far prefer dabs of tapenade on a pizza to plain olives.

kmennie:
I think that you mean the Glebe Meat and Cheese deli. (on bank, between 1st and 2nd). Excellent place, roasting their own chicken, turkey, and roast beef, and slicing it as deli meat.
The bad news here, is that they have closed/gone out-of-business.
Back on topic though, I'm certain that you could find high quality tapenade at La Bottega, or at the glebe nicastros.

So the next time hubby bought it bulk at Farm boy where they spoon it up for you, it was 1/5 the price, but honestly does not taste as good, the texture seems to be more seperated then a smooth paste.
