Any place on the east side (vanier, gloucester, orleans) where I can find dirt cheap beef tallow?

Trying to price out how cheaply I can make suet cakes vs just buying them ready made, for the birds.

I'll be checking with butchers next week, but thought someone might be ahead of me and already knows.

Sometimes you can find bags of beef suet in the freezer at Loblaws where they keep the frozen breakfast sausage.

Otherwise, ask your butcher *ahead* of time so they can reserve it for you.

I stopped into my butcher to ask if he would save me some, after a very strange look and a "what the hell do you want that for?", he returned from the backroom with lots of it for me.

I asked him how much he wanted for it, and he just pointed to the tip jar. Works for me.
