My younger son's top three favourite dishes are:
#1 - pan-fried dumpling (aka potstickers)
#2 - stir-fried rice cake (nian gao)
#3 - vegetable rice (Shanghai style)
I think most of the Foodies here like pot-stickers. But have you tried stir-fried rice cake? I cooked it last night upon my son's request (see the photo, still in the wok).
In Toronto, many Shanghai restaurants or Beijing style restaurants offer "stir-fried rice cake" in the menu. But they like to put soy sauce to make the rice cake a bit darker color.
I bought the bag of Korean rice cake (frozen) from New 168 Market ($2.99 per bag).
