Pljeskavica is made from ground lamb,beef or pork or a combination of the three, finely chopped onions and spices, grilled and served on a plate with regional side dishes, or as a hamburger on a fresh somun (lepinja) in Serbia, Bosnia, Montenegro, Macedonia and Croatia, also in Romania and Bulgaria.
