I added Friends Coffee Co because this little spot has been open on Queen Street for a really long time - since at least 2002 I think - and is one of the best deals at lunchtime downtown. They offer the expected panini and soup or salad combos, but there are quite a few interesting and slightly unusual options for the panini - my favourite is the chicken and marinated veggie which adds a nice zing to the sandwich. The deal with the soup comes to $6.50 including tax. The soups are (or at least taste) homemade and are a good portion, the paninis are not skimpy either. The salad combo costs more, but the panini+soup deal is definitely some of the best fresh food available at lunch for under $7. They apparently also have good coffee and morning deals on coffee and muffin, etc. If you work downtown and buy your lunch you should definitely try this place.
