Came back to Ottawa to find this restaurant now closed. So sorry.

We went to Caveau Méditerranéen at 1638 Bank St in the Alta Vista area for a midweek dinner out and had a great time. The food and service were wonderful. This restaurant deserves to be better patronized. I neglected to take any photos but Peter Hum has some great ones in his Citizen review at ottawacitizen.com Starters were the Arancini and the grilled shrimp with arugula salad and smoked eggplant zaalouk. Both were really good. I'd never had Arancini, a cheese and mushroom-stuffed fried rice ball with a fresh tomato sauce. Mains were haddock fish and chips with a red cabbage cole slaw and the grilled chicken kabobs with basmati, grilled potatoes, garlic sauce and a green salad. Portions were generous and delicious. A bottle of Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon with the meal and Baclava and espresso to finish. Looking forward to a return visit. Some gluten free options. Lots of free parking.
