It is a real pleasure to have a good quality italian bistro in Aylmer rather than having to drive into Ottawa.
The food was very good and portions are really generous. For starters we had a salad with a gorgonzola dressing and deep fried calamari. The salad was delicious and the calamari was cooked perfectly and very tender. For mains we ordered the Rigatoni ai sapori di bosco (rigatoni with beef and spinach) and the Spaghetti Ambrosia (with goat cheese). Both were delicious as well.
The service was slightly disorganized but our server was courteous and attentive.

Food Gypsy
The decor is simple yet elegant and from the minute you walk in, the place smells like good food.
We dropped by on a slow Tuesday afternoon for lunch. Nice fresh salad to start for me and a basket of garlic bread for the guy. The garlic bread was not made with garlic powder but real garlic. I had the cannelloni and he had the lasagna. Both were balanced and meaty topped with gooey, melted cheese.
We only had a glass (OK, so maybe it was a half carafe of the house red, who's counting) but the wine list has some decent bottles worthy of the food and the prices were comparable to most.
It's easy to see why the patio is packed on a beautiful summer night.
If you're looking for a change of pace, cross a bridge and spend an evening in a cozy little bistro in the picturesque village of Aylmer, Quebec or as I like to call it "French Immersion".
