Foods from Corner Bar and Grill

Came here for lunch a few weeks ago, wasn't expecting anything spectacular and ended up being pleasantly surprised. There were 4 of us; 2 ordered burgers which were juicy, flavourful, huge (1/2 pound of meat)and most importantly freshly made on the spot. There is a choice of fries or salad and you can upgrade to sweet potato fries. Sweet potato fries were very good and the caesar salad was about as good as I've had in this style of place. The special of the day was fish and chips with coleslaw for $8.95!The chips were hot but I don't think they were fresh cut. The fish was nicely crispy on the outside, the batter wasn't too thick and the fish was fresh and juicy. The homemade creamy coleslaw was excellent. The chicken wrap was declared good-it looked fine, just nothing outstanding. The breakfasts (all day) at the table beside us looked very good and were of a substantial size. Alot of university students were in the restaurant, probably because the food is fresh and good, serving sizes are substantial and the prices are very reasonable. Service was efficient and friendly. If I lived around here I would probably visit frequently.

I was just there for Brunch after the Santa Claus parade and the food was only okay. I got the Big breakfast that came with a waffle, and my girlfriend got the standard 'bacon-and-eggs' breakfast. We both found the food to be a bit dry and tasteless. The waffle did come with real maple syrup which was nice. Everything was edible but not enjoyable. The service was good and I liked the coffee, but I don't think I'd hurry back anytime soon.

We went to the Corner Bar on Friday and night and the servers were very accomodating for our large group. It was a nice change from the Royal Oak. They had a great menu and decent beer selection.

I had the vegetarian sandwich - grilled eggplant and peppers on a ciabatta with a red pepper mayo. It was great - very filling and I took the second half home for the next day.

My only complaints are: I was disappointed with their wine selection (only a house red and house white and a 'feature' wine) and it was waaay too hot in the restaurant. But I'll go back.

We used to eat here all the time for breakfast when in the Glebe. Not a huge fan of the dinner fare but the Breakfast is the best we have found in the city so far.
