high end sushi [Food/Vendor]

Hi everyone,

My wonderful fiancé loves sushi, usually of the AYCE variety. However her birthday is coming up, and I wanted to take her to a good high end place. Do you have any recommendations?

Park Restaurant in mtl is the closest "high end" sushi that comes to mind. The quality of the best AYCE in Ottawa is comparable, if not the same, as dedicated sushi restos.

Ottawa doesn't really have any high end sushi places like they do in other cities.

if you want to spend a bit more than you would normally spend and have some good sushi then Genji is good... I used to live across the street so I would go there frequently.

I don't know it as well but I also think Wasabi on Clarence is good.

Hannabi on Bank is doing very good sushi.
Nicer/higher end than an AYCE. Also second Genji.

Another vote for Genji! I'm also partial to Ten Fish in Old Ottawa South. It's primarily a take out place as they only have seating for 6 or 8 (forget exactly). Ten Fish's menu isn't as big as some of the other places but the quality for the price is outstanding!

Great! Thanks for the suggestions!

Ill second Stewtime, If you really want to spoil her, go to Park in Montréal. Antonio Park is quite a chef and is one of the few licensed chef in Canada who can import certain types of fish directly from Japan. It's not cheap but really an experience. You might bump into famous people while you there. PK Sudan was there when I went 2 years ago. Katy Perry, Tom Cruise and Jennifer Lopez are some of his guest that have stopped by his joint. Plus the restaurant is not located in the downtown area and quite easy to get to coming from Ottawa.

Suisha is old school but reliably very good quality sushi. Wasabi and Genji are second to Suisha IMHO. A place on Bank and Gloucester that closed was great. Izakaya on Bank is a fun small plates place with sushi on its menu.
