Where to have lunch in Aylmer [General]

2014 Dec 11
Can anyone recommend a place to have lunch in Aylmer? We are planning on doing some shopping there but are not familiar with the place at all. I am not interested in chain places, but am open to different cuisines. Thanks!

I asked my sister about lunch in Aylmer as she lives in QC, loves good food and dining out, and she said her favourite restaurant in Aylmer is Bistro Ambrosia but she has never been there for lunch, only dinners. She highly recommends the place, as well as their homemade pastas, veal, etc.

I strongly recommend Chorizo et Chèvre Noire in Vieux Aylmer. Great foodie destination in general, but fantastic sandwiches, salads, soups etc.

Make sure you stop at Boulangerie Aux Deux frères while you're in Aylmer. It's the only bakery in Ottawa/Gatineau that I prefer over Art-is-an. Or go there for lunch for their pizza.

Here's a good article on Aylmer:

Chorizo and Chèvre Noire has closed :(

Thank you all for your suggestions. We went to Chorizo and Chèvre Noire only to find a sign on the door that said they were closed for renovations until further notice which is a bit different from what AD 2 posts. We did go to the bakery but there was no where to eat the pizza. We ended up at Edgar which was surprisingly ho hum. We had a tomato parmesan basil soup that did not have a lot of flavour and a schnitzel sandwich that had a heavy bread to schnitzel ratio. The schnitzel was also overcooked. This is the only time I have ever been disappointed with their food.

Well the post on the Facebook paged linked above makes it sound more like the retirement of the principal of the restaurant rather than a strict closure or renovations, and they leave open the possibility that the other partner (?) will continue at some point but there is nothing definite... So who knows? :)
