Green peppercorns [Cooking]

2014 Mar 11
I live in Stittsville and I'm having a lot of trouble finding green peppercorns. For some unaccountable reason my local Bulk Barn (on Hazeldean Road in Kanata) has stopped carrying them although it still has black, white and rose. I thought Grace in the Kitchen would come up trumps but they assure me they only have them preserved in liquid which is not what I want. I love to make up a four-colour pepper mix and I use this for everything where pepper is called for.

Can anyone help please? I know I can buy them on the web but this is a cosmopolitan city and surely I shouldn't have to.

Have you tried Cardamom and Cloves?

"Pepper, green" appears on Cardamom and Cloves 's bulk spices list (www.cardamomandcloves.com). You might wanna check with Jodi first to make sure those are indeed whole dry green peppercorns. She won't bite. :)

The organic place upstairs in Billings Bridge usually has them.

I sometimes buy them fresh at Manphong Supermarket on Somerset. The bag holds far more than I ever use in a dish, but they dry out nicely on their own.

I sometimes see this brand (in brine) at loblaws or other grocery stores.
