Sorry it took so long to update this, but here is a photo of the beautiful cakes made by www.thegirlwiththemostcake.com that we picked up at the market last weekend. Though none of the produce vendors were there for obvious reasons, there were lots of Easter goodies, preserves, arts and crafts, and of course - meat. The meat in particular was a hit with the visiting Albertans.
Can't wait for the official opening of the Carp Farmer's market on the Mother's Day weekend in May.

Actually, I wondered if she'd have to sacrifice taste for stability of icing etc., but they are really good. We've never strayed from the belgium chocolate cakes, but she also does lemon, carrot or vanilla bean cakes. The icing looks like marzipan but it's a really velvet-y butter cream. At least that's what it tastes like to me.
The cakes are pretty expensive, and seem to have gone up a couple of dollars from last season to $12 for a 4-5 inch (diameter) cake. That having been said, they are both eye candy and a nice treat.

Thanx, I'll keep that in mind for future reference when needing a cake for something special. It does look like marzipan to me too and I always wondered if that would be tasty or not. They are so pretty looking and intricate that I don't think the price for them is high at all. It must take her some time to do them!
