Does anybody else have one of those 'Entertainment' books? [General]

Got one for Xmas, and -- what's the etiquette with using the coupons? Has anybody found a way to make good use of it while avoiding that server glare of "Coupons? Okay, people who use coupons are horrible tippers. I hate you already..."

Suggestions for places in it to definitely go to and definitely avoid appreciated, too.

And: glitch, apparently. This re-posted itself a couple of times; it seems clicking 'back' in my browser now causes problems?

Hmm... while possible, nothing has changed with respect to actually posting forum content. I know that with my browser (Firefox), when I click "back" to a page where I submitted something it warns me that I'm about to re-post.

I'll keep an eye on it, but in the meantime you can just delete duplicate posts (or let me do it). Thanks for the feedback!

re: your question. I think you just have to suck it up and accept the glares. That's what we did when we had a coupon book. On the other hand, that's the same reason we don't seek out coupon books. ;-)

Regardless, the really classy places are the ones that don't treat you any different when you have a coupon.

We have bought the Entertainment book for the last four years and it pays for itself over and over. I think last year we calculated a savings of almost $250.
We have never experienced any "coupon glares" so far - I guess we have been lucky?
We usually present it before they bring us the bill so it eliminates the extra step of them having to amend the bill and bring it back again. The etiquette (and the rule I think) is to make sure you always tip on what the amount was before they removed the discount.
It gets a bit tricky when you are more than one couple. You can't always use it if one couple has a coupon and the other couple doesn't. This depends on the restaurant and I would suggest calling ahead to see what their policy is. They also sometimes insist on one bill and take a percentage off the total and then leave you to sort it out among the couples.

We love the book because it forces us to try new places (that's how we found Allium - thank god!). Every year a few restaurants drop out and new ones join so there is always a good variety.

My favourites in the book are:

Allium
Savana Cafe
Caribbean Flavours
Il Piccolino
Cafe Paradiso
Eclectic Noodle
Khao Thai
Santé

Let us know what you have tried!!
