Foods from Hanabi Japanese Cuisine

Last Thursday I met up with a friend for an early dinner then a visit to the nature museum for their science by night event. We had been eyeing Habani Japanese Cuisine for some time now and since it is close to the museum we decided to try it out.

My friend was already seated when I arrived so the waitress showed me to our table and brought us each a menu and a glass of water. They have an extensive menu including appetizers, soups and salads, sushi and sashimi dinners, ramen, and bento box dinners. I decided on a ramen since I had already tried a Tonkotsu ramen in Toronto some time ago and I really enjoyed it. They had a Chashu ramen on the menu that sounded good so that’s what I tried. The ramen includes bamboo shoots, mushrooms, seaweed, noodles, and a hard boiled egg among other things. The broth had a lovely flavor which was a little on the sweet side. I usually prefer savoury dishes but that broth was quite nice. My friend ordered a Tokyo bento box which included a miso soup and salad, a spring roll, tempura, and grilled salmon and included generous servings of each and she said everything was very tasty.

I noticed a couple at a nearby table who ordered a sushi dinner with a generous portion of sushi and rice. The diners at the next table ordered what looked like kaiseki dinners which consisted of teriyaki or tempura with rice and the dinners included miso soup and salad. Both dinners included generous portions. I also noticed the take-out orders were doing quite well so this restaurant seems to be doing well. I look forward to going back to try other menu items.
