I recently picked up fresh scallops here and they were the best I've ever found in Ottawa. They were almost identical to those that I had fresh from the ocean in Gaspe a long time ago. I've also bought rainbow trout and arctic char and they were equally fantastic. This store is a great addition to the area.

This is quickly becoming my go-to destination for fish. In the last week or so I've had more day boat scallops, mussels, beautifully plump and tender patagonian shrimp and tiny sweet fresh Matane shrimp. Yesterday I went for more black cod, but Steve had beautiful fresh sweet pickerel available when I got there, so I changed my plans. I've never been disappointed in the quality of the fish here, and I'm told they will even bring in LIVE crawfish if you order them ahead.

Stopped in today, because I heard that this is where Art-is-in gets their amazing black cod. It's a small place, but they have a nice assortment of products. I got a couple bags of mussels, but I noticed that they had FRESH day boat scallops available and picked some up. We just sauteed some in butter and added nothing but a little bit of truffle salt. They were perfection! It is not always easy to find fresh scallops and these were sweet, tender and as good as the ones I ate fresh off the boat in stonington last summer. The guy who served me was very helpful and pleasant and this place is a great addition and I will be going back often.

I picked up some fresh PEI mussels and laughing bird shrimp. The shrimp are a new and clean, sustainable type of seafood from Belize.
Info: www.cleanfish.com

The shrimp were very tasty as promised by the fishmonger who pointed out the articles on the product when I asked what they were. I cooked them up via a "Shrimp Boil" which is the nicest way to get the true taste of shrimp. These were 14.95/lb. There are cheaper products out there but there are also a lot of completely flavourless, flabby shrimp and these were certainly not that.

The mussels were also great, flown in this am, 2lbs for $5. Cooked them in a coconut curry sauce. So fresh, there wasn't one "dud" in the bunch.

They also had some sable fish that I was drooling over but decided not to get because I was already over my student budget.

The guy working was super helpful and mentioned that the frozen product could be divided up to whatever amount you want.

This is a great addition to the area, support the little guy!
