The next Café Church Ottawa will be on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at Dominion-Chalmers United Church, 355 Cooper St., in Woodside Hall from 10:00 a.m. to noon. The guest speaker will be Shelley Spruit, from “Against the Grain Farms” in Mountain, Ontario. Shelley is a local grain farmer, baker, chef, ancient grain restorer and researcher. Shelley will present how and why they have worked so hard to establish and bring back heritage grains from around the world and local grains, all 100% NON GMO that can be grown locally in the Ottawa area soil and climate. From field to fork, they ensure superior quality by maintaining strict control of the end to end process, including: seed selection, cultivating, planting, harvesting, cleaning and packaging. Against the Grain is committed to supporting local farming, land stewardship and biodiversity in Canada.

By harnessing the power of these grains, they offer fresh wholesome food choices that are proven contributors to good health and well being. Against the Grain's mission is to offer all consumers the power to change - one seed at a time. Their products are available in Ottawa. Shelley will share the importance of the these ancient grains for your health and the land and will share how her faith contributed to this mission.
