Who sells cans (metal) for canning in Ottawa?

Not really sure since I use mason jars but I'd check Preston Hardware since they'd be most likely to carry them.

just a quick note on using tin cans for canning. becareful! my father was involved in canning and because of that is very hestitant about tin can canning. if the can is dented in anyway (this includes canned food that you buy at the grocery store), do not use. it is very easy to dent tin cans and the slightest dents can affect the seal on the can (which can allow the food to spoil, though you will be unaware. you can not smell or taste botulism, but it can occur.

you will need to buy a special sealing mechanism, that can be a tad tricky to operate the first few times, so you will want to do some practicing.

good luck and i agree that preston hardware might be your best bet. i think some of the farm co-ops in the area also have good canning supplies.
