Anthony Bourdain's Parts Unknown [General]

2013 Apr 12
The series première of the show "Anthony Bourdain Parts Unknown" will be broadcast on CNN on Sunday night at 9:00 pm. According to CNN "Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown takes you to exotic global destinations through Bourdain's unique lens" however I noticed the May 5th episode is on Canada. We are now an exotic global destination! This Sunday's episode is on Myanmar. More info on the show is here: www.cnn.com

"... exotic global destinations ..."
"... May 5th episode is on Canada."

Can't wait to see him up north chewing on some muk tuk.

And for those who really don't know what muk tuk is ... :

Didn't he already do that on No Reservations?

Watched it last night - liked it. Too many adds, and he could have added another hour of footage. I was really surprised by the amount of food/commerce shown. I didn't think there would be that much in Myanmar. He had plenty of disclaimers about filming in "tourist safe" areas.

haha, creed.

I don't blame them to drinking so many beers on the train! that looked insane!

Watch it and thought it was very similar to No Reservation which I love.

huge Bourdain fan here and i really, really liked this. the format seemed a little less formulaic than some episodes of No Reservations. you know...a little food, a little culture, then Tony doing some "touristy" type activity with locals.

anyhow can't wait for the next episode. thanks for the reminder Pasta lover.

Just an update episode 2 is on at 9:00 tonight and a re-run of episode 1 at 8:00 for those who missed it last week. I think I will need a stiff drink while watching that train ride through Myanmar.

Korea town was really interesting too. Gave a bit of info on how the Rodney King riots shaped the current Korea town, and some background on growing up 1st generation Korean in LA. Plus lots of food porn.

Yes the Koreatown episode was enjoyable - I loved hearing about the 1st generation Koreans living there. I missed the bit on the Rodney King riots since I dozed off in mid-episode-;) I will have to catch the re-run this weekend.

I love the show for the combined educational experience/travelogue/food adventures.

I'm a little late with this but season 2 of Parts Unknown premiered last night. They showed two back-to-back episodes to start the season (one was a recap of season one and the in the other Anthony Bourdain visits Jerusalem). Next Sunday they visit Spain. They don't have subsequent episodes listed for the rest of the season but the link I provided in the original post still works if you'd like to click on it for more info.
