Perogies vs Vareniki [General]

Ukrainian dance class come up in about an hour ... I'm going to poll as many people as possible on this ... will report back as to what people think is the difference.

Vareniki is boiled
perogi is fried
Vareniki is Ukrainian word
perogi is Polish and Russian

In Russia they are called pelmeni.

Well they are definitely also called Perogi in Russia ... so the difference between those 2 terms is a topic for yet another discussion :-)

No, sorry but pelmeni is a different dish; it is from Siberia and they are small dumplings. Smaller than the perogie/vareniki type.
Argue as much as you want about the perogie vs. vareniki debate, but neither will ever be pelmeni.
