Hi Paul, i am really looking forward to stop by your truck for a meal. Do you have a location?

There`s seems to be a buzz around the city for good Fish Tacos...hope to see those on your menu!

Cheers!

Hey Paul ... My food suggestions:

Pupusas and empanadas
Pulled pork sammies (with slaw)
Schnitzel with bigos or cooked kraut
Souvlaki lamb and/or beef
Greek Gyros

Since you mention 'gourmet food', check out Spencer on the Go from San Fran.

He does a braised lamb cheek sandwich for 9 bucks .. oh ya !!

And keep us posted here at Ottawa Foodies about when and where you open.

All the best on your new venture.

Hi Street Gourmet, my comments (from a mere consumer's perspective) would be: cook what you know really well - things that you love to eat - and forget about trends. Good food doesn't go in and out of style in my opinion.

If something is really good, people will buy it, whether it's freshly made falafels, tacos de lengua, jerk chicken roti, phad thai, cubano sandwiches, fresh chiccharron, saltcod fritters, vienna-style hot dogs, whatever. I'd personally stay away from things such as, poutine with bacon and 3 other kinds of meat with two super-rich sauces...that was a tired concept 5 years ago. Sorry to those who love their lavish poutines...

Personally, I think our culture really lacks good, healthy options for snacks that are less than 5$, but that is just my observation.

Street Gourmet...do you have a location in mind?
Are you looking to do this full time?
Would you be open to a location on a rotation basis, say once or twice a week?

Thank-you so much for your thoughts and menu ideas, you will be seeing most of those suggestion. Also thank-you captain caper those links were great.
The truck is currently getting painted and I'm working on website/facebook.I'm still looking to start in May.
To you spud guy...My plan is to be mobile, I want to have a bunch of locations that I can rotate...once or twice a week would be great depending where it is.
