Incorrect Menus - Seems to be an Ottawa thing [General]

So I've been noticing that in Ottawa, restaurants tend to refer to main courses as entrees...this is clearly a mistake, agreed?

PS. Has anyone seen this other than in Ottawa?

Yes, pretty much everywhere in North America.

I guess people consider dessert the main course ;)

In english north america, main courses are entrees. In Quebec (or french menus), entree is used appropriately.

@momo don't you mean "desert". ;)

I've noticed that some of the more savvy restaurants will list Appetizers, Mains, and Desserts. No "Entrees" in sight.

And of course there's the current trend for Small Plates and Large Plates. I like the flexibility these offer.
