The new 'Best of' is out! What are your thoughts on it?

For the "Best Chinese" category, you only have 3 choices to select from, namely Shanghai, So Good and Northern Han. I bet these three restaurants are their ad customers.

The basic rules of thumb to evaluate a Chinese restaurant is to check the percentage of Asian customers. If you see a lot of oriental customers inside the restaurant, I should say it is safe to try the restaurant.

Peronsally, I myself will not vote So Good at all. Their food is really Canadian Chinese food. But then this may be how they got famous.

For Shanghai, it is a place for fun karaoke. You go there for fun and not for their food.

Anyway, I would recommend: Fortune Express, Chu Shing (very very bad services though), Yangtze, Dragon Tavern, Rideau, Ging Sing and Mandarian Ogilvie (pricy and small food portion though).

P.S. I remember how we found a very good Chinese restaurant during our visit to Gold Coast in Australia many years ago. We detected two Chinese restaurants (one is on the ground floor and another one is on the second floor). The one on the ground floor was empty and the one on the second floor was packed with Asian customers. Of course we went up to the second floor one. The food WAS amazing. Too bad I didn't get the name of the restaurant. I still remember their "shrimp pot" with rice noodles.
