I've been thinking about making my own Louisiana-style hot sauce and wonder if anyone knows where I might purchase fresh cayenne peppers? If that turns out to be a non-starter, what about a good source for jalapenos?

You can normally get a great deal on jalapenos at the Parkdale market if you buy in bulk. I got 5 lbs last year and still have some frozen.

The Byward Fruit Market usually has jalapenos and Chilli peppers by the cash (regardless of the time of year). They also have all sorts of peppers there dried as do any of the Latin markets. Fresh I do not recall seeing much.

don't know about cayenne peppers but farm boy has a nice selection peppers... jalapenos, habanero and more...
