2011 Mar 10
I just saw a posting for Bon Appetit on May 3 at the Amberdeen Pavillion at Lansdowne Park.

From 5:30-9pm you can sample all sorts of dishes from many Ottawa restaurants.
There are also wines for sale to sample.
I haven't gone to this event at Lansdowne, but did go when the event was much smaller a few years ago and remember it being fairly good!

Interesting. I haven't gone to the Ottawa Food and Wine Show in many years because it had become a fratboy festival and the food was becoming ridiculously expensive. This looks like a good show though. It isn't in the market, so the fratboy quotient should be fairly low. Price is determined in advance, so no surprises. I always enjoy myself at these kinds of thing.

Anyone else want to go?

The courtyard is really the only culinary big wig on the list.

I'd consider Les Fougeres a 'big wig' as well. In general, I agree though and would have liked to have seen a bigger representation from the top-end places. We went to this many years ago and it was great but I seem to remember more high-end places back then (I vaguely remember going back multiple times for a creme brulee from Henry Burger).

I'm tempted to go to this, but also not sure if I want to spend that much.

The food event I really liked last year was the Quebec foods exhibit that was at the casino in hull- the portions were very generous and admission was just $10 to get in...but food was extra (but very cheaply priced-I had a lot of food from L'Oree du Bois for only$5..like a whole dessert and a good size mushroom dish :)

From the list Arc seems good, Courtyard,Lago I heard was good...but not sure,Todrics is good too (at there 2 days ago).

So I'm not entirely sure if I will go yet...

Prettytasty, what is the name of the quebec foods exhibit you mention? I vaguely remember missing it last year and would love to go to it this year if they are still holding it.

I totally forgot the name, but seems they have the site up for this years event!!

Also, I remember buying some French Macarons from some cooking students who were raising funds for a "cultural school trip" to Italy or something.
-the macarons were around $8 for 8 of them and were very good!
hopefully someone else will be selling some this year!

You could also buy a lot of food products to take home,I had bought a couple bottles of wine, some fresh cheese curds, jam and other things!
