Best Vegetarian Restaurants [Food/Vendor]

Darren Andrew Another vote here for the Green Door. It's just south of Ottawa U and the food is good.
There is a vegetarian restaurant in Sandy Hill that I found out about when going through the vegetarian tag called Perfection-Satisfaction-Promise. I haven't been there yet but the reviews on this site so far are favourable and the menu looks good.

Are you looking for strictly vegetarian restaurants or omni ones as well that offer vegetarian fare? I'll send a big vote towards Perfection-Satisfaction-Promise. I had lunch there all the time when I was studying at UOttawa. Green Door is also great, albeit a little on the expensive side.
Le Kimchi on Preston offers a lot of vegetarian options, which is sometimes hard to come by in Korean food. Likewise for Restaurant Joy on Somerset.
I always enjoy my meals at Green Earth on Preston too, and their menu is MASSIVE.
Same goes for So Good (Pan-Asian) + Ceylonta (Sri Lankan) on Somerset + Chahaya Malaysia out on Montreal Road.
You can also just check out the restaurants I've reviewed from my profile to get a better idea of the places I'd recommend. I've been a vegetarian for years so I've got a pretty good idea of the places to hit up in Ottawa :)

I used to hit up Govinda's semi-frequently a couple years ago when I was still a student. I was never disappointed there; tasty stuff, very cheap (it was minimum $5 donation last time I was there, not sure whether that's gone up).
ZenKitchen on Somerset West has some tasty fare, though it's more pricey fine-dining type stuff; good for special occasions.

Cafe My House on Bank st is really good.
Their menu is mostly vegan, but they claim to cater to "everyone", so also have chicken, a beef burger (i think?),macrobiotic burger, vegan shakes and desserts.
-the french toast meal was $12.95
-they do have cheaper items also.
I tried the vegan coconut french toast made w brown rice bread and that had bananas in the middle-was really good.
only minus is super slow service and not that cheap.
But I am going to go back and try everything on the menu eventually.
they are at: 1729 bank in a small plaza.

Darren Andrew If you are willing to stray from Sandy Hill I could recommend Café Shafali on Dalhousie. Many of their dishes are vegetarian friendly. Actually Indian restaurants in general are a pretty safe bet for vegetarians and vegans alike. I know you asked specifically restaurants but I could also recommend Bread and Sons bakery on Bank. They have delicious pizzas that are vegetarian friendly as well as many other options. Might be handy if you ever feel like picking up a pizza slice for take-out.

I really like GREEN EARTH on Preston. Huge selection, tasty food esp the soups.
And the banana spring rools with home-made ice cream are just wrong. In a good way. A really REALLY good way.
THE TABLE on Wellington West is also good, tho between the two pay-by-weight places i give the edge to GREEN DOOR for more variety and better dessert (tho i give Table the edge in atmosphere less resembling a hippie compound cafeteria).

the manx on elgin is a fantastic pub, great local and microbrew beer selection and always some very good vegetarian appetizers and mains. lately i've been loving the tofu tacos.
i prefer the table to the green door foodwise, but i think it is more expensive. the table is closer to me, so that is also a deciding factor between the two.
perfection-satisfaction-promise is a great choice for sandy hill area. i find the curries a bit bland, i like stronger spices, so i usually get it to go and add to it once at home.
down on rideau is the east african restaurant East African Restaurant
i love their vegetarian platter.
in the glebe is tea pantry - a vegetarian tea room. great soup and bread selection. it has limited hours. Glebe Community Center
i often go to punk ottawa to see what they are recommending. they are big on vegetarian/vegan friendly restaurants

Todrics always has a vegetarian appetizer and main dish on their menu.
The restaurant is not vegetarian, but it is kind of fancier bistro type food.
They have their menu online.
I have tried the vegetable soup, vegetable hot pot, salads.
Their menu is online at www.todrics.com
seems to change every season or so.
usually they have a chicken dish, beef, fish, porc? and the vegetable dish.
-seems to always have at least one vegtable soup and couple salads.

I am fairly new to the city and live close to University of Ottawa. I was just wondering what are some of the best vegetarian restaurants are near by!
Thanks for the suggestions!
