Radishes with butter [General]

Radishes with butter - a French classic appetiser. Clean some radishes, dip the end of one of them in good sea salt (preferably fleur de sel) and then smear some butter (preferably cultured butter; the better the butter, the better) on the salted end, and eat. Repeat with the next radish. Served in homes and at picnics across France.

I've made it even better: I use a home-made substitute for butter. I take whipping cream (35%), add a pinch of salt (no sugar!) and whip it using a stick blender (also called an immersion blender, wand blender, etc.) until it is almost impossible to whip it any more. It becomes more like whipped butter than like whipped cream. Then it freeze it for a short time till it becomes hard but not too hard. Salted radishes with this stuff are even tastier than with butter! Try it, you definitely won't regret it.

I've heard of this before- but not too sure if I like the combination.
Is there a special kind of radish you used?

last week I bought pink fleshed radishes-they were huge like tennis balls.
there was 4 radish to a pound!
