I was in Toronto this weekend and had an excellent meal with friends at the Black Hoof Café that I have to recommend. It was definitely one of the best resto experiences I have had in the city.
It’s a very trendy place, and I was originally concerned it was more style then substance, but the food was beyond reproach. Not a great place for vegetarians or squeamish people as it was an organ-centric menu. Portions are small, but the food is so rich and delicious it is the kind of place where you take a bite and you are in no hurry take another because you are still savouring the last bite. Prices run about 7-10 bucks a plate, we shared about 9 between three of us.
Definitely a destination to check out. It’s T.O.’s Pied de Cochon for anglos.
I believe my friend tried this place a few weeks back. He said he tried horse tartar, I think. I cringed at the thought. He did enjoy the place and food overall.
