ottawa foodies

I am looking for some good food recommendations for Syracuse NY. Taking the familly for a weekend getaway. I am interested in possibly Diner, pizza and Steak restaurants.

Try Dinosaur BBQ if you like BBQ they do a very good job at a great price.

I recommend NOT going to Heid's. Apparently it has quite the reputation but the three of us who dined there didn't enjoy it at all.

We always go to the Clam bar!!! If you love seafood, this is the place. The price is right and the food always good. We have tried the steak too, equally great. It is a very odd "quirky" place, and easy to miss, you must reserve or get there early, long line ups every night. The clams casino and the Shrimp & scallops in lobster sauce is really good and well as any or their broiled fish.

If you like Santangelo's on Old Liverpool Rd in Liverpool which is very close to the Carousel mall, about 10 minutes away. The food is very good with good prices.
It has a bar area which you can eat in or the restaurant, Try to make a reservation or go before 7pm. We have made a reservation and still waited 15 minutes or so. It is family run with "gramdma's" chicken soup as one of the starters. Really good. We have eaten there 5 or 6 times and have not been disappointed. Tipical Italian but with some other very interesting dishes.
Ruby Tuesdays at the mall is OK but like all chains fairly ordinary.

A great place for the family is Smokey Bones - great Steaks and good BBQ, You'll want to take some BBQ sauce home with you. Its a newer USA chain and designed for families. Ribs are great and Prices are reasonable

DINOSAUR BBQ!!!!!! Hands down the place to be!!!! If they ever came to Ottawa, I think they would put Local Heroes, Broadway and Lone Star out of business. They also have a great BBQ cookbook! :))

Limp lizard, Dino BBQ, there's this old school Italian place that feels very mobbed out, I'm forgetting the name of it now...

On the way back there is a turkey farm called plainville farms. They have an adjoining restaurant of the same name. Located near Cicero on Brewerton rd. Be careful not to fall asleep on your drive home with your belly full of turkey!

Dinosaur BBQ is a given. Momma Nancy's truck stop is an interesting dive. I actually enjoyed Heids (good for a quick lunch, as long as you like hotdogs... go white).

The biker guys at Dinosaur BBQ are HOT. The bands that play at Dinosaur BBQ shake down the house! Good times :)

Joey's Classic Italian Dining is our recommended place for dinner in Syracuse.
