Bwahahaha!!! I've seen this spread around - though usually it's the other video with him and the iron treillis as sole decor, making it even more incongruous.

But this one truly puts it in the bizarre category. Well, for us. He's supposedly quite famous and loved as a singer, and normally sings with actual words... :)

He does have a really nice voice. And North Americans are not used to such TV bits obviously lip-synched like this, but it is the standard over there. I don't know how widespread around the world is the value of "If we see the band, we want to hear a version different than the album's", but it may not be the majority.

American Bandstand was always lip synched. I remember seeing the Police in there in the 80s and it was really obvious
