Coffee roasting [General]

2009 Jun 28
I finally got around to roasting my green coffee beans. Used a second hand hot air popper and it worked like a charm. I am letting the coffee sit for 24 hrs as suggested on this forum, so can't comment on the taste yet, but it looks and smells fantastic. Many thanks to Zymurgist for his instructions and comments in previous posts. I would never had know about being able to do this if it weren't for you!

I will need to try that out, if I find a hot air popper. That looks astounding.

I just saw a hot air popper at Walmart for 15$ yesterday.

On that note, I've just roasted my third batch of coffee this evening, Ethiopian Yirgacheffe; my wife went to brulerie Aladin yesterday and bought up 2.5kg of those for only 41$, great deal. I think I'm hooked.

Be sure and check out second hand stores. I got my popper at Value Village for 6 bucks. They said they are always coming but sell out fast.

Note some poppers do not work so well. You could go to www.roastyourown.ca and buy one of theirs.
