I've been tweeting and facebooking the creation of my significant other's birthday cake over the past few days, and I promised a few of you photos of the fruit of my labour... they can be found on my blog at: butter-and-patience.blogspot.co (my sometimes food blog). I plan on posting the recipe(s) in the next day or two.

I suspect this will be the start of many more cakes and baked yumminess in the next few months...

The icing looks delicious..caramel or something?

Chocolate buttercram, as a matter of fact. But, I did it with a smaller amount of really dark (88%) chocolate, so it's a bit lighter in colour and not really too chocolatey. It was perfect.

lady who brunches will you honour us with more food porn during your baking adventures? Although I do a limited amount of baking (cookies, muffins, quick breads) the thought of attempting pies or cakes scares me abit for some reason. The cake you baked looks delicious and I admire your efforts. And your niece is so lucky to have such a nice auntie to bake her a birthday cake-;)
