don't eat the rice [General]

Another fine example of corporate shenanigans :

www.asahi.com

" At a news conference Saturday, Mikasa Foods President Mitsuo Fuyuki admitted that he instructed officials at the company's factory in Chikuzen, Fukuoka Prefecture, to sell the contaminated rice for human consumption.

Fuyuki said the company realized it could reap big profits by selling the defective product for human consumption. "

Like I said before and will undoubtedly say again, corporate food producers who are publicly traded, are in the business of making money, not in the business of making food.

Be careful out there!

while Mikasa Foods is being fined (yada yada yada), i think it won't be long before they pay a more severe price, i.e., of social disgrace. You don't mess with rice in Japan, and fwiw, i've heard (informally) that the company in question is already laying off all its employees and winding down its business.
