The grilled beef, grilled chicken and grilled shrimp with rice was fresh and tasty. The grilled chicken was my least favourite. It was a little too marinated. The side of marinated cabbage and shredded cucumbers was a nice touch.

One of the fun things about dining with someone born and raised in Vietnam is when they point out the discrepancies. For example, the "La Lot" in the "Com Bo La Lot" turned out to be "Tia To". Thus, Betel Leaf Wrapped Beef Roll on Rice turns out to be Vietnamese Perilla Wrapped Beef Roll with Rice. ;-)

Anyway, these crispy little cylindrical ground beef and glass noodle meatballs derived more of their flavour from the salty-sweet marinade than from their snug and leafy cocoons. They are a wonderful alternative to the ubiquitous grilled lemongrass beef.

At $8, this is a pretty incredibly priced meal! The rice is perfect and the meat is fairly tasty, although not as well grilled as I've had at other places. My plate (pictured here) included BBQ beef and pork chop. The pork chop was terribly disappointing, but I admit to having been spoiled by the late Mee Xim . Wifey had BBQ beef, BBQ chicken, and BBQ shrimp.

So the quality is not great but the value is fantastic!

Grilled beef, shredded pork and fried egg on steamed rice. Great dish and a generous portion for $8.95! The meat on its own is on the sweeter side but mixed with the rice and dipping sauce it comes together as a nicely balanced dish.

I too had the grilled pork, shredded pork and fried egg on steamed rice.

Very generous portion of grilled pork. Quite different from Huong's Vietnamese Bistro. Not better or worse ... just different.

I truly enjoyed this dish, especially when i sparingly added fish sauce and two kinds of hot sauce And

Did i say dish? ... i mean DEEP dish ... not a shallow plate. And a peculiar red plastic(?) one at that.

Was quite full after this and a durian shake.

Grilled pork, shredded pork and fried egg on steamed rice.

The grilled pork is thin, well seasoned, grilled well and there was a lot of it. Underneath all that is a huge mountain of rice. I could not finish it and I hate to waste rice. The shredded pork was like it is everywhere else I have had come it. It is a great deal too for $8.95.

The grilled meat and rice dishes here are indeed very good! My Shrimp, Beef, and Chicken on Rice ($12.50) was generous and satisfying with nicely marinated meats, lots of fluffy rice, and nice crisp veggies.

Enjoyed the Rice with Grilled Beef immensely at lunch today. There's enough perfect, shiny rice in there to satisfy a big hunger. The amazing thing is that this food truck was around last year, long before Ottawa's recent food truck push.

The Rice with Grilled Chicken was spectacular. For $7.95 tax-in, eating this wonderful, tasty, real food over a fast food burger and fries is a no-brainer.

I think this is actually tastier than the Bún Thịt Nướng, although I do miss the spring rolls.

This popped up on the menu since the last time I was here a month or so ago - it is written on a sheet of paper in the window not on the menu itself, and just says "Vietnamese Rice Dish with your choice of beef, chicken, or pork".

A bit of a surprise for a chip truck so I had to try it. I had the beef and while it was not exceptional by any means, it was filling and was probably the healthiest option on the menu.

I'll try the pork next.
