Semolina Dinner Rolls
A Zola's Signature Item

Mark is absolutely right their Semolina Dinner Rolls are OUTSTANDING, and ADDICTIVE! They are available in both White and Whole Wheat and can be purchased by the dozen or the half-dozen in the Pasta Shop (Go for it, buy a dozen, let me tell you one bite and you'll have no problem eating them all).

I can't really explain why I like the bread here so much, since it isn't the chewy crusty kind that I usually prefer. The rolls are kind of moist and very fresh.. so good with a little butter!

The bread is warm and served with canola oil. It continues to a welcome appetizer, especially when very hungry!

We all like this baguette-type bread. I was told that the bread is supplied by their neighbor Harvest Loaf, Harvest Loaf . I wish that I also live next to a bakery so that I can have fresh bread daily.

However, I am extremely surprised and disappointed that they don't have balsamic vinegar when I asked for it!

Hot home made Focaccia with two types of organic olive oils....YUM!

The rolls are fresh and good. I find Italian bread to be a little too airy for my taste, but that's my own problem, and they're doing everything correctly here. There is rosemary and chili infused olive oil available at each table and that does a great job of waking up the bread.

The rolls that are served here are amazing... they are not your usual dinner rolls. They are more of a crusty roll / bread; soft in the middle, which when served warm and spread with butter melts into a delicious combo, enhanced by the outside which is crusty and with just enough chew. I have inquired and have been told that they come from a Portugese Bakery... they are absolutely delicious!

The bread arrived on our table hot with smoke! Fabulous bread. I gave 5 stars for their bread! (I forgot what it was. But very filling and tasted like homemade.) Too bad that I didn't take the photo of their bread.

Hi Ashley,
For your information, french bread should never be served hot. EVER. If it is, then it means that you are not experiencing real French cuisine. And I know what I'm talking about: I'm French. From France. So I know a little bit about culinary tradition! :o)

Bread was not warm or hot. After having so many hot breads served in French restaurants, I was very surprised to have the cold bread (basically a small roll) that was served in this restaurant!

When we had the fresh bread here it came with three different butters; curry, basil and regular. Cute idea. My fav was the curry spice.

Their bread arrived at our table "hot". It tasted like homemade bread. Great bread!

Note: The best restaurant bread I tried was Joey's Fine Italian Dining in East Syracuse so far.

The bread is baked in-house like dinner rolls (balls of dough in a baking pan, matrix style) and is served very fresh, one per diner. But unlike dinner rolls they are huge -- maybe 3"x3" at the base and 4" tall.

Flavour is lightly yeasty and pretty good. Texture is great: moist and pleasantly chewy on the inside, lightly crusty on the outside.

Served with the ubiquitous olive oil and balsamic but I would have preferred it with butter. Excellent for dunking into soups and sauces.

It seems that the walnut bread has been excluded now. The quality of the bread was not as good as my previous visits. Besides, I would prefer to be served warm bread instead of cold bread.

I really like their fresh bread (flat bread, walnut bread and white baguette). We ate most of the flat bread and walunut bread while we were waiting for the appetizer to come.

They serve complementary Art-Is-In bread here for lunch and dinner.

Possibly the best in-house bread I've encountered! The baguette has a magical crust and a moist chewy crumb. My only quibble is that butter might be preferred by some over the cliche oil and balsamic.
