Ha ha ha. It really looks like poo. I don't think I will have the gut to try Kofta from now on.

Haha.. that's exactly what I thought when I got the platter from Mr Shawarma. Oh well, if poo tasted like that, nobody would ever go hungry! :O

On a related note, if you get a chance to try the Persian "Koobideh" (Koobideh) you'll find that any resemblance to poo is instantly forgotten because of its exquisite taste!

I've always been turned off by kofta - one of my friends made the comment that they look like pieces of poo and I haven't been able to get over it. LOL!

The kofta were cooked on long metal skewers while I waited (15 minutes over open flames). But when I ate them I found they didn't have great flavour and had a sort of rubbery texture. The rest of the meal plate was extra delicious though, so I didn't mind. In addition to what's in the photo, it comes with a pita and a little cup of hummus.

This platter would be incredible with beef shawarma instead of kofta. Next time!

Best kofte in town! I always make the extra effort to end up at this shawarma place for their kofta. Soooo delicious. It take 10-15 to make usually because they make it fresh to order but its well worth the wait!

Also good are there bbq chicken meal. For 20 dollars you get a entire bbq chicken, rice, potatoes, pita and fixings. Amazing.

Did I mention all the kabobs chicken and beef are amazing too?

I'm going to make a bold statement here: Best shawarma place in town. I know, I said it, I went there.

The Al-Kalaa's kofta is great.

Juat as cheap as lean ground beef. And all the work is done.

They use Halal beef ... locally grown on grain and no antibiotics.

Just slide in a bamboo or metal skewer in each piece and BBQ.

Ohh ya !!

What a way to impress your firends when they come over for a BBQ or even better yet... take a tray to a BBQ party... surely you will be the only one with kofta.

Really good with tahini mixed with water, lemon juice and garlic (with a bit of salt).

The kofte here comes in little two-bite chewy nuggets of lamb and veal. They are super tasty and have a bit of a crust. The texture is spongier than other kofte-type dishes I've tried, but not in a bad way.

The kofte sandwich here would be most awesome!
