Ottawa Foodies

Went here with a group of 7 last night. They said it would be a 1.5 hr wait but it only ended up being 30 minutes - that was great.

We had a big round table at the back beside the lobster tank, that was nice since it was quiet.

The food was good, the prices were fine, but after we got our meals our server kind of disappeared...One of my friends was missing the shrimp from his plate and it took a while for it to come out once he has brought it to the server's attention. Another had asked for no rice, and it came out with rice, but they removed it right away.

I had also ordered the endless shrimp, but my shrimp was definitely not endless. I didn't even bother ordering a refill since our server was MIA. Oh well, I wasn't even hungry anymore, but still. If I had known that I wouldn't have ordered the damn thing anyway.

We sat there staring at our empty plates for about 10 minutes until someone (who I assume was some sort of manager) noticed and came over and cleared some of them. 15 seconds later our server was running over and apologizing for the "slow" service. Looks like he got a talking to :)

Kind of a downer to an otherwise good night. They have pretty good drinks and they are very reasonably priced. And the cheddar bay biscuits alone are worth going there for :) :) :)

I've got to say, sadly, that I consider Red Lobster to be a guilty pleasure. It's the cheddar bay biscuits that have me hooked... *sigh*

I know it may be a chain restaurant, and it's not gourmet seafood by any means, but I am always full when we leave here and the service and food are always consistent and consistent is a good thing. A "go to" place for us when we're looking for a quick meal when shopping on Merivale.

The coconut shrimp is to die for! It comes with this pina colada sauce and is so good!
