Dropped into the Barley Mow recently because they were running a promo in the local newspaper ($ 10 Off Coupon for 2 Entrees & 2 Beverages... not valid on Fridays).

"The Man" had a draft beer by Creemore, and I a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon from Chile. For mains, "The Man" had the Liver & Onions and I chose my favourite, the Pub Curry.

The Pub Curry was as good as ever. And "The Man" enjoyed his Liver & Onions that came with Mashed Potatoes and Gravy. His serving was HUGE, so he wasn't able to finish it all... I on the otherhand loved mine so much I could have licked the plate clean. (Wait a minute, isn't there a nursery rhyme about a couple like this).

Now that Hockey Season is getting underway, I'm sure we'll be in more often.

It was a nice evening, so we decided to sit on the patio, it was quite comfortable. Our server was cheery and helpful, she brought the menus along with a wine list. “The Man” had a beer, I had a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon by Caliterra from Chili. I of course came for the Pub Curry (same as last time, still just as delicious). “The Man” chose the Chicken Brochette. The Brochette came with rice and greek salad and tzatziki. Everything was yummy. “The Man” commented that when he thinks of the Barley Mow he rarely thinks of food, but indeed the food here is better and goes beyond the standard Pub fare of nachos, chicken wings etc (although those are on the menu as well). We agree that we should eat here more often.

NOTE - We noticed that there was a flyer up in regards to the Monday Night Chicken Wing Special, they are now $ 10.49 for all you can eat.

My favourite dish at "The Mow" is the Pub Curry. A wonderful chicken and veggie concoction in a flavourful and creamy curry sauce. It is served over rice and comes with nan bread and a side salad. LOTS OF FOOD.

"The Mow" in Barrhaven seems to have a lot of Pub Regulars and those who drop by to watch Hockey. They have a large projection tv screen that they use at one end of the restaurant, and many tvs throughout the rest of the space. Although the crazy configuration of the bar (and it's support pillars) make it difficult to see the large plasmas... whoever designed this place must have been "smokin" something, I can't say I've ever seen a more poorly designed bar area anywhere else.

"The Mow" offers Hockey Night Specials and a list of dailys. One of the most popular is Monday Night Wing Night... wings come in baskets of 12 for 12 cents (YEP YOU READ THAT RIGHT) with the purchase of any beverage. Among our crowd the favourites would be Honey Garlic and BBBQ. The servers say the mild, medium, hot and suicide are not as popular. Mild is basically naked, and the medium are hotter than most other wing joints.

The usual assortment of beers and a nice list of wines by the glass, although at over $ 8 a glass, in my opinion a little pricey for a neighbourhood pub.

This place is close to home and we tend to go in here for dinner when we are with picky friends whom need a variety to choose from. (I refuse to do fast food in which many of Barrhaven restaurants are) My husbands fish and chips was very good. Fresh cod (although not Atlantic.. New Zealand). I had the Tuna Steak which was rather dry. My guess is that it was frozen not fresh. Never really had an awful meal here or bad experience. It's a nice place and easy on the wallet.
