I have to agree with earlier comments about it being just a "meh" experience. Although the Sangria was fairly good, the food was just bland. Not bad, but definitely not what I'd describe as particularly tasty. I'm not sure if it's a matter of freshness, but the food definitely needed more flavour, mor spice. I'm sure the patio would be great, but it's winter, so we didn't have that to redeem the experience.
After seeing all the people congregating on Feleena's patio in the Glebe I thought it may be worth a visit.
I was so wrong.
Nearly 10 $ for a small bowl of guac. ?
You're kidding, right ?
No complimentary salsa or corn chips ?
Kidding, right ?
Mexican food ?
Unlikely.
No spiciness, no flavor.
And unfortunately, crazily priced for what it mascarades as. It is not even close to authentic Mexican food.
Foodies unite against overpriced , overhyped, owner-gouging restaurants.
Re. "I've never been dissappointed with any meal. It tastes like they use nothing but fresh ingredients" --
Part of what I said on restaurantthing:
"The food used to be fairly good; not 'authentic,' but tasty. In the last few years, though, the stuff has become bland and generally poor-quality. Salads with brown lettuce. "Chipotle sauce" redolent of tinned no-name tomato sauce with one pepper thrown in. A chile relleno with soggy batter and, oddly, some fibrous matter far too tough to eat. Again: bland, with poor-quality ingredients."
At best, I agree with the person over there who said
"It typifies a "meh" restaurant experience. The food is just..meh. The service is friendly, the decor passable. But why pay for "meh" I ask you?"
My husband and I like to go here in the summer. Their sangria packs a punch and I appreciate how they exclude the meat from their layer dip for me.
I've never been dissappointed with any meal. It tastes like they use nothing but fresh ingredients.
The service has always been outstanding. We've always had the same server and he seems to remember us (or is good at faking it) even though we don't go extremely often.
As an appetizer, this can be enjoyed at Feleena’s on Bank St. (233-2010). It comes for 2/3/4 people, but perhaps Les would do something special to turn it into a meal for you. I like to get it for sharing and pick up the dinner special as my main course. [I’m an adventuresome diner (and drinker).]
