My kids love gelato and I was very happy to learn that a gelato place was opening in the west end.
Usually we go downtown to either Pure Gelato or Piccolino Grande. Pure and Piccolino both have amazing gelatos and a great selection of flavours to choose from.

At Luigi's the selection is limited, 10-12 flavours, much like Stella Luna's. We ordered the pistachio, mango and rasberry flavours. All three were okay with rasberry being the best of the lot. Prefer Luigi's to Stella mainly due to proximity. Stella IMHO is overrated and not worth the trip.

Luigi's is a quaint little west end spot and I did appreciate them having cold lemon water available for it's patrons, a nice touch on a warm summer evening. Staff were all very friendly and accommodating.

Their panini selection looked very interesting, I'll definitely have to come back and sample.

If you live in the area this is a better option than the DQ across the street but I prefer Pure (favourite flavour - nocciola) or Piccolino (fav's - blueberry & rum fantasy) for gelato.

We shared a lobster melt today, and I appreciate most of what Captain Caper said about hot vs. cold lobster, but we really enjoyed this version. Lots of large chunks of lobster meat and although I liked the melted cheeses, it did make for a sandwich that was almost too heavy on the cheese. Very rich. We also split a creamy macaroni salad which had a nicely chewy texture and very fresh taste. We found that sharing the lobster melt and the salad was more than enough for two people. Many other good sandwiches on the menu, so I look forward to sampling some of the others which all sounded interesting.

Had the Lobster Panini today.

Smaller bun than the pulled pork and doesn't seem to be Art-is-In bread ... but really good, none the less.

It was a decent size serving considering the richness of the lobster meat and the wack of melted cheese with it.

I have always preferred my lobster rolls cold because I find lobster much more tasty when in is cold. For this merry-timer, cooked lobster stored in the fridge for a day or two is soooo much more tasty than right out of the steam kettle or pot. The flavours develop in the shell.

So ... If they ever do a cold version .. I'm all on it.

But for now, I don't think I'll get it again. I would rather buy a $14 lobster from T&T or Kowloon and cook it myself.

I dropped in for lunch today. I had the Caprese panini (fresh tomatoes, mozzarella, basil leaves and balsamic glaze) and it was quite good. Everything tasted fresh and as others mentioned, the bread was delicious (and possibly from Artisin?). The menu doesn't list what type of bread each sandwich comes on (mine came on olive bread) so you may want to ask first in case it is not to your preference. The sandwiches are fairly large and I was full after about 3/4 of mine. It definitely felt like a good value at $8.00.

They didn't have any gelato today but I will be back to sample that and a few of the other sandwiches as well.

Service was friendly but a little bit slow. As they've only been open for a few days, I imagine they are still getting into their stride.

Had a pulled pork panini for supper tonight.

The sammie was on, none other than Keven Mathison's Dynamite White bread from Art-is-In Bakery.

The high oil content in the bread leached out at a few edges of the bun, from the heat of the panini press. Stay calm folks ... this is normal for such rich bread.

The pulled pork was ample and lightly spiced. The coleslaw was not too finely shredded so it added a nice counter texture to the flossy pork.

For 8 bucks, taxes in, I'd get it again ... But not until I try the lobster melt first !

Minus points for leaving the LOREM IPSUM code up on your website, but the menu looks good. I'm close. I'll probably stop in soon to give it a try.

If only it had been the BACON IPSUM code ...

Picked up three sandwiches the other day. One was the lobster which I personally found a bit salty. I also thought it had been fried in too much olive oil as the bread was greasy. Hubby, however, liked it. The pulled pork sandwich was good but very spicy. The veal panini was also good but would have been even better with a sauce or condiment of some sort. The quality of the bread was excellent. Service was very slow. The mango gelato was delicious. I will definetly go there again

Stopped in tonight for a gelato. Decor is sleek and pleasant. We tried the stracciatella and the bacio, both of which were quite good, and a nice touch is that there is a dispenser for chilled lemon water, which is very refreshing with the gelato.

I noticed on the panini menu that they offer a lobster melt, and when I asked the server about it, he told me that the sandwich is made from large chunks of freshly cooked lobster with havarti and gruyere. It's 14 bucks, and I will definitely return to try it out.

Don't know... I saw some people eating a salad, but the truth is I only saw the salad on the online menu. The menu in store only listed the paninis.
