Ottawa Foodies

A great piece of the city's microbrew scene. I find they sometimes have some issues with under-carbonation (which I think might be a little on-purpose, though not to my liking), but those aside, it's always good stuff in their growlers. Their 2 most recent wildcards have been my favourite so far (galaxy and xthzana-somethingorother?). Friendly group running the place, too.

Sorry, I just meant that we bought beer there to bring home, which our friends then tried. Didn't mean to confuse anyone.

ksw: They'll give you a small sample or two, but as far as I know, they only sell their beer in growlers -- no orders by the pint or hanging around to drink it.

No there aren't any tables. It is a pretty modest set-up at the moment, I don think they have the room for tables. I may have heard that they are already looking to grow though... so maybe they'll plan for some tables in the future

Oops - sorry, didn't mean "just" in a derogatory way.
Was more trying to figure out if they have actual tables where you can hang out and order beer.

From what "thenommer" says below, sounds like you can show up there with friends and order beers.

So not quite sure of your response FoodMonger - other than at local restos, can you sit and drink beer at the brewery?

Sorry, I am a bit confused (and none the wiser after going on Broadhead's web site).

Is this place just a Brewery, or do they have a pub as well?

Can you go there for drinks?

Thank goodness FoodMonger wrote about this place! Since reading about it, I've been twice with my boyfriend. The second time we brought several roommates and friends along after they tried some of the beers we bought during our first visit. Unfortunately both times we've been, they were out of the wildcard ale. After trying the amber, the pale ale, the white and the standard, my group of friends has agreed that the white and the standard are the top picks for us. I especially enjoyed the long shot white with a slice of meyer lemon in it. I like supporting the small local company, and with the (understandably) fairly high deposit for the growlers, we're sure to return frequently.

Those guys over at broadhead are really top notch.
I'm loving the Underdog brew, nice and hoppy - was drinking it every Sens game to show my support for the team (considering they were underdogs)...The Growlers are great for serving a crowd or sharing between two quaff-ers!

I live right next to an LCBO & Beer store, but I still find myself making the half hour round trip just to get my fill!
