@snoopy loopy:
Moretti is a beer not a wine.

@ksw: Oh that's cool! You learn something new every day.

On that revised bit of info the Quattro pizza was well-topped and presented then.

Theirs was artichokes, prosciutto, some type of mushroom, and I think the fourth was olive, but I am not 100% certain.

My only downside with the pizza would be that sauce and cheese were a little bit bland, but the pizza dough was quite lovely.

Also honesty forces me to clarify that though the location speaks "pleasant neighbourhood restaurant" to me, they may in fact be striving higher, in which case the price ranges are in line with what one would expect.

Er... you mean glass? Or that has got to be the cheapest bottle of wine I have ever seen on a menu!

Visited for lunch. Pretty solid margherita pizza, one of the better ones I've had in Ottawa.
Large portion for one, easily two meals. 17$ is a reasonable price.
What's not reasonable is 7$ for a bottle of Moretti...

Hi Beable:
"(another oddity - the toppings were dispersed completely on different pieces, but I could see that appealing to some)"

Just to let you know that a "quattro" pizza is called such because the ingredients are supposed to be separated into four separate sections.

"the Quattro Stagioni has 4 toppings in quadrants--usually prosciutto, carcioffi (artichokes), olives, and one more like tomato or whatever they choose." (from Google)

It's a specific style of pizza - so not an oddity :):)

I tried this place last night with my parents. Overall we found the food a little overpriced (not much just a little) but nice, and the service friendly but somewhat erratic, which could still be covered under growing pains as it's a relatively new restaurant.

Specific service quirks: 1) We sat looking at our bread plates for a long while wondering if any was going to be brought out (why else provide bread plates?) and speculating that this was their way of encouraging people to order appetizers. Then, when the bread finally came out our food almost immediately followed it.
2) It took second requests to get things like water to the table, leftovers packed up, and bills presented. It was busy for a Tuesday though, so they might have been short waitstaff.

Veal piccata was declared tasty by my father.

The pizza quattro ordered by my mother was huge (explaining the $20+ cost). She found it quite lovely - very light and non-greasy compared to pizzeria pizzas which was a plus.

I found the pizza crust nice but the sauce and cheese a little bland and forgettable. The artichokes on the piece I tasted (another oddity - the toppings were dispersed completely on different pieces, but I could see that appealing to some) were fine. Overall pleasant enough but I probably wouldn't order it, even though the crust was good.

I ordered the chicken marsala, and it was tasty - a teensy bit too salty for my tastes but I tend to like most food less salted than average. The side of sweet potato was particularly done well.

Overall the food was good, but not "drive across the city for it" good.

It seems like the sort of restaurant that would make a nice neighbourhood spot for people who live near Merivale/Baseline, but I think it would be better if the price-range fit that neighbourhood restaurant feel.

The same thing crossed my mind Ken. For all that it was authentic and wonderful, I wish that chef@heart had described it more.

If you want to try the most authentic Italian Pizza you will find in Ottawa....you have to go here. Its hidden in a little plaza between clyde/merivale across from old CTV. I have never tasted pizza in Canada like this, the only other place you will find this pizza is if you go to Italy. I definalety recc and I am definately going back. The service was ok...not over the top, they could probably work on that a bit
