KINGSTON

It's been awhile since I've been to any of the Lone Stars in town, but we did stop in the one in Kingston over the long weekend and enjoyed a late afternoon on the Margarittaville Patio. The Margaritas were awesome (went with the Strawberry one this time out), "The Man" had a Dos Equis Mexican Beer (first time) and although he said he enjoyed it he switched back to a draft for beer two.

As for the food, the Tortilla Chips and Salsa was great, the chips were still warm and the salsa was refilled without asking.

We went with the Fajitas as per usual, and they were fantastic. We did the combo (steak, chicken and shrimp). And there were plenty of sides, had a to wait for a re-order of Tortillas though because the place was so busy (back to Queens Weekend). But we didn't mind because we weren't in a rush to go anywheres... I know that some people got ticked waiting for items, and we did overhear Management doing a good job at comping some items.

The only thing I would change, was this time out we tried the Fajita Fiesta which means there is an addition of Grilled Pork Back Ribs the Fiesta is about $ 8.00 more than the 2 Person Fajitas, and overall I don't think it is worth the extra. Especially as in the end we ended up with more food than we could eat. I say, skip the Ribs and concentrate on the Fajitas!

I popped into Lonestar one time (the one downtown) for a hot chocolate on a cold day. I know... sort of random, but it was REALLY cold out and I think I was buying paint from Home Hardware. I was super lazy, and I hate Second Cup so I went into Lonestar to warm up.
I ordered my hot chocolate, and with it came their lovely nachos and salsa! Hot chocolate and nachos don't go THAT well together, but for 2.50$ (cuz they didn't charge me for the nachos) it was a lovely lunch and warmed me up!

I've been here before with friends and find their fajitas very nice for a group of people. And if you eat in they always bring you extra toppings. I normally always run out of salsa or other things.
The drinks are okay here, I believe you can "Texas size" them (Im not sure if thats right) but I honestly think it's a waste. It seems like they overcharge you for bevvies with barely any alcohol in them in the first place.

I absolutely love this place. Great place for fajitas and nachos, soooo tasty!
the only downside is smelling like Mexican food after :(

They have a good takeout menu, and are happy to sell you bags of chips and buckets of salsa to take home. These are always a hit at parties because, let's face it, *everyone* loves Lone Star chips n salsa! ;-)

I've been burned a couple of times in the past getting shafted on the tortillas, so now I ask for extra when I place my order. Problem solved! Fajita lovers take note - ask for more tortillas if ordering takeaway!

That sounds like a mistake! When you eat in, they happily bring you more tortillas on request. For take out they should be more generous than that, since obviously you can't ask for more.

FYI - I guess the sharp increase in flour prices has hit Lone Star. Tonight a bunch of us split a 1-pound chicken/steak combo for takeout, and they only gave us 6 fajita wraps - less than 2 per person :(

I should have taken a pic of some of the overstuffed fajitas that ensued...

I could really use one of those little tortilla making machines in my kitchen. These are the best fajitas you'll find in the city. A 1/2 pound is ~$20 and is more than enough for 2 people to feast on (although they could work on the onion/pepper ratio and be a little more generous on the meat sometimes)

The best hands down. It's the fresh tortillas that make the difference. My husband and I always share a half pound of steak fajitas (I find the chicken a little bland) and we always leave really satisfied and very full!

I think it's within the past few months that they've changed their salsa. It's still nice and fresh, but I preferred the older version. I can't quite put my finger on it, but I thought it tasted a bit sweeter than before.

Am I crazy or have they changed their salsa recipe in the last few years? Still a great salsa but I find it has a different kick to it now. I can't quite figure it out but I think it used to have more cilantro.

Perfect salsa! If you are looking for something similar at home try Kickin Salsa.

"The one that all others are compared to" -- yes. And a total thumbs-up on the chips, too.

Lone Star's pico de gallo is the best salsa in town -- the one that all others are compared to. Fresh, zesty, with just a hint of jalapeno heat.

Really good margaritas. I prefer classic lime but strawberry is pretty tasty too.
